A Month and Half in the DogHouse

Hi, my name is Evan, and this is my first entry for The Hind Leg. You probably won’t have spoken to me yet, or even heard of me. I am, as they say, “the new guy”. At the beginning of July I was offered a position here as a developer. Since then, time has flown by. I feel like I’ve been exposed to more information, techniques and experiences than I ever could have in an academic environment. I just thought I’d share some of these experiences of the last few weeks.

The BDP

Like any small business owner will tell you, corporate tax deductable toys are your legislative right. It gives you an excuse to splurge those hard earned pretax company dollars on gadgets you personally don’t particularly need or can afford. It also silences that annoying little retail therapy demon that sits on your right shoulder, who I swear is on commission.

I might just love you forever. I've tried some of Blair's Sudden Death before, a toothpick with a visible wiping of sauce sent me in to half an hour of really quite distressing pain. What could be better for the holiday period than idiotically hot chilli sauces?

You wouldn't read about it

No sooner than we're settled in to our new office, than the inevitable happens. One Sunday afternoon, I'm casually sitting around at home, relaxing a bit after a long week at work, when Simon calls me...

"Hey mate, can you come down the office? You're not going to believe this, but there's been a flood".

Now this seemed somewhat unusual, because the last time I checked global warming hadn't quite taken hold, it hadn't been raining, and most importantly, we're on the second floor. That's one hell of a flood.

New website, more services and new commercial premises

PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA, October 22, 2008 – DogHouse Media today announced significant enhancements to its business due to substantial growth over the past 24 months. The company has moved into a larger commercial premises in Cottesloe to support its expanding workforce. It has also refreshed its website to better showcase its client portfolio and added a number of new services to its set of web development offerings.
