The Virtual Office - Broome - Wrapping Up

As we reached the middle of the week, the importance of our blogging and work seemed to fade against the backdrop of Broome’s lush paradise. Our focus shifted from doing work to catching crabs, four wheel driving, watching the sun go down and celebrating the birthdays of Simon “The Boss” and our technical director Cam, both of which happen to be born a day apart.

The Virtual Office - Broome - Tuesday

Day two began in relaxing fashion. We awoke wearily and made our way to the main house where we began to gear up for a days work. Something about being in Broome and having a 30 second commute to work encourages very late nights, encouraging our rampant morning coffee consumption.

The Virtual Office - Broome - Monday

Welcome to day one of the extremely official Doghouse Media Broome Blog!

For those not aware, we’ve moved the entire office up to Broome for the week. We’re working with laptops and VOIP phones. Over the next few days we’ll continue to keep the world updated with the amazing tales of our adventures, and with any luck, someone might actually read it.

Our far from humble abode is a property about 15 minutes north of Broome featuring two large metal gates leading down to a gorgeous orchard of mango trees to a main house with several bungalows scattered nearby. The house is simply beautiful and the seven of us have comfortably spread ourselves out with room to work too. Looking out over the pool to the deep azure of the ocean as it stretches in to the horizon is a view worth a million bucks. The digs are of an exceptional standard, and the gardens immaculately maintained. Without question, this particular part of the earth is pretty special and we made no hesitation in enjoying everything it has to offer.

The Virtual Office - DogHouse Media's Temporary HQ

Where the sky meets the land, the desert meets the sea, where white sands, red rocks and cobalt blue waters come together is how the Broome visitors centre describes the tropical seaside town that oozes charm and character. Not a likely location for an urban-centric web firm but from next week for 5 days, Broome will be home for DogHouse Media. (Yes that is right, home for the whole company for 5 days).

We do not have plans to hire a semi trailer to move the office to the field or even see a need to drive us all up with an overflowing trailer attached. We will be simply walking on the plane with a small bag, a laptop, our desktop phones, and as soon as the team hits Broome, Doghouse Media will be operating as per normal.
